*UNSOLICITED KINDNESS*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee."* Proverbs 3:29 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
Unsolicited kindness?
Maybe, more of unwarranted kindness. Kindness without any special reason. That's what God desires from us.
It is not what we owe others on account of what they have done or not done, but what we owe them because of God!
Proverbs 3:29 Don't try to be mean to neighbors who trust you. (CEV)
Proverbs 3:29 Do not contrive or dig up or cultivate evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly and confidently beside you. (Amplified)
Proverbs 3:29 Don't plan anything that will hurt your neighbors; they live beside you, trusting you. (GNB)
A neighbor as far as Jesus is concerned, simply means anyone who comes around you. A passenger, a class mate, a work colleague, your next door tenant, a passerby, etc all pass as your neighbor according to Jesus in the parable of the good samaritan.
To never plan evil against them, also means to never allow evil to come upon them as long as it is within your power to do something about it. This means being kind, being helpful, going out of your way, to ensure their good, and avoid any perceived or possible evil.
Hence, you can call a passerby's attention to his phone or wallet that just fell off his pocket/person unknown to him;
You can warn a road user of an incoming vehicle they are unaware of;
You can help a stranger carry a load or cross the road;
You can assist a neighbour pack in their clothes when the rain comes if they are not in; etc
There are a lot of ways to not devise evil or rather prevent evil from happening to those within your reach.
_MEDITATION:_
*The world says good people are hard to come by; let your life be a constant reminder that they are wrong*

*INSTANT GOODNESS*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee."* Proverbs 3:27-28 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
In the last Word Alive (Bible study session), someone had insinuated during the question and answers session, that you need to hear from God before you give alms to beggars. Of course, that idea was corrected immediately.
You don't NEED to hear from God to give alms. God's position is clear on that. Rather, you may need to hear from God, or rather have a check in your spirit, that restrains you from giving alms in a particular case- which will be an exception to the general rule.
Remember, the same God who asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, also restrained him from carrying on the instructions to the letter.
The need to be good, kind and generous cannot be overemphasized. You don't need to hear from God before you give to those in need or do good towards others. God's word is already clear on the issue. You need obedience & faith.
Hence, generally, as much as lies in you, I.e. when it is in your power, when you can afford it and to the extent that you can accommodate it, DO GOOD to those in need.
Give that alms.
Share that food.
Get that gift and give it out.
Share that time together with someone who's been down.
Pay that visit that's long over due.
Make that call that can brighten a soul.
Once the need or occasion demands it and it is within your power, be ready, to do it.
_MEDITATION:_
*Do all you can for everyone who deserves your help. Don't tell your neighbor to come back tomorrow, if you can help today.* (Proverbs 3:27-28) (CEV)

*BE NOT AFRAID*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken."* Proverbs 3:25-26 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
Be
Not
Afraid.
Generally speaking, man is a fearful being. He entertain many fears, both known and unknown fears. While it is human to be afraid, it is godly to not be afraid.
The man who will not be subject or susceptible to fear, must have a superior backing, either in God or something else.
For everyone who will follow God, God calls you to follow fearlessly. God calls you to be afraid-less. Be unfraid of sudden fear. This means certain things are both fear provoking and can come suddenly.
Notice that "when": wickedness will come. It is a promise of some sort. But you are not to fear! Why?
The Lord is your confidence. God will keep you from being taken. This means, your security is of the lord, even when wicked men or their lots come calling!
Remember, there will be occasions when "sudden fear" will confront you. But you are told and reassured that you are not to be afraid.
_MEDITATION:_
*You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.* (Proverbs 3:25-26) (NLT)

*Wisdom & Understanding* (7)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet." (Proverbs 3:23-24 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom & understanding are an antidote for fear.
God's wisdom & understanding, engenders a life of safety and security and assurance.
God's wisdom and understanding fosters safety and preservation.
God's wisdom and understanding propels peace and tranquility.
Not because there are no scary issues or situations around, because God's wisdom and understanding brings peace that passes all understanding.
Hallelujah!
_MEDITATION:_
*You can go safely on your way and never even stumble. You will not be afraid when you go to bed, and you will sleep soundly through the night.* (Proverbs 3:23-24) (GNB)

*Wisdom & Understanding* (6)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck." (Proverbs 3:21-22 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom & understanding are to be cherished, sought out, applied, guarded & shared.
If you focus on wisdom & understanding, you will grow in it. Hence, you are to ensure that you keep your eyes on the goal -- to grow in wisdom & understanding.
Keep sound wisdom & understanding. It is not enough to have it. You must keep, apply, walk in it.
Solomon was reknown for wisdom but if you look at his end, you will realize his wisdom was not kept or applied in His life consistently to the end. He veered off at some point.
Anyone can veer off the main road of wisdom into the bush paths of foolishness. You can begin in wisdom and end in foolishness. Know this and be wise.
So shall they be life unto thy soul and grace to thy neck.
It is as you keep wisdom in view and keep walking in tune with it, that your soul will find true life and grace.
_MEDITATION:_
*Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them. They'll keep your soul alive and well, they'll keep you fit and attractive.* (Proverbs 3:21-22)

*Wisdom & Understanding* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour."* Proverbs 3:15-16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom & understanding are more precious than rubies. In fact, "all the things you can desire" cannot be compared with wisdom & understanding.
King Solomon gave a fine example of this. When he was to ask God for something after his rise to the throne, he asked for wisdom! How pleased God was with him!
Our desire for money or wealth should never be stronger than our desire for wisdom & understanding.
Length of days or longevity come with wisdom & understanding. If you would last in any good thing, you will need wisdom & understanding.
Riches & honour also comes to the one who finds wisdom & gets understanding.
If you focus on wisdom & understanding, riches & honour will eventually become yours!
_MEDITATION:_
Wisdom is more valuable than jewels; nothing you could want can compare with it. Wisdom offers you long life, as well as wealth and honor. Proverbs 3:15,16 (GNB)

*Wisdom & Understanding* (1)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold."* Proverbs 3:13-14 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Find wisdom.
Get understanding.
Whatever you already have,
You don't have to find. If you have to find it, then you don't have it or you don't have it enough!
Whatever you have to get, is something you don't have or don't have enough of.
We are to find wisdom and get understanding, because we will need them and cannot have enough of them.
13. Happy is anyone who becomes wise---who comes to have understanding.
14. There is more profit in it than there is in silver; it is worth more to you than gold.
_MEDITATION:_
As silver and gold can be gathered, so is wisdom and understanding. How rich are you in wisdom & understanding?

*Spiritual Disciplines* (4)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"My son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord [His correction by punishment or by subjection to suffering or trial]; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights."* Proverbs 3:11-12 (Amplified))
_Bible Insight:_
....Neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
God's punishment is not only physical or through challenges or trials. In the new testament, God does more of corrections by His word, and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit who drives godly sorrow and repentance.
Take Peter for instance. He took the word of Jesus as a prior rebuke and felt great godly sorrow when he remembered the word of the master:-
Mark 14:72 (KJV) And the second time the cock crew. And PETER CALLED TO MIND THE WORD THAT JESUS SAID UNTO HIM, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when HE THOUGHT thereon, he wept.
God's word is designed to bring corrections and instructions unto righteousness. It is against this backdrop, one must learn to be humble in the face of corrections or instructions by God's word.
_MEDITATION:_
*"A generation that prefers God's promises and blessings above God's commandments and injunctions, will be hardened or shrink at the rebuke of the Lord"*

*Spiritual Disciplines* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"My son, do not make your heart hard against the Lord's teaching; do not be made angry by his training: For to those who are dear to him the Lord says sharp words, and makes the son in whom he has delight undergo pain."* Proverbs 3:11-12 (BBE))
_Bible Insight:_
Do not make your HEART HARD against the Lord's teaching; do not be made ANGRY by his training: For to those who are dear to him the Lord says SHARP WORDS, and makes the son in whom he has delight UNDERGO PAIN.
Think of Miriam, who in
Exodus 15:20 (KJV) was called "the prophetess, the sister of Aaron". But in Numbers 12:1 (KJV) "Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman."
This attracted God's severe correction and discipline.
Numbers 12:9-10 (KJV) And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
God punished a prophetess. Even Moses himself had his share of discipline too when he struck the rock twice rather than speak to the rock as the Lord instructed. God is no respecter of persons.
_MEDITATION:_
*"A generation that does not learn that God is a disciplinarian will definitely take God for granted and will scoff at corrections"*
